Terms of use

Short, plain terms for using PAVE's public site and app during the beta — plus the SMS program terms for text alerts.

The short version. PAVE is currently in a closed beta, operated by Alles Company. If you are a beta tester, the beta agreement you signed governs your use of the app — these Terms cover the public website and fill in anything the agreement does not. PAVE is a tracking aid, not legal advice, and the signed logbook remains the legal record. If your school turns on text alerts and you opt in, the SMS program terms below apply to those texts. If you connect an outside AI assistant to PAVE, the connector terms below apply to that.

1. Who this is for

PAVE is presently open to invited beta testers only. If you signed the beta agreement, that agreement governs your use of the app itself — these Terms do not replace it. These Terms cover this public website (pavecfi.com) and the things the beta agreement does not spell out, such as the SMS program below.

2. What PAVE is — and is not

PAVE is a working training record built to help a flight instructor track a student's progress against 14 CFR — hours, stages, endorsements, currency. It is a tracking aid, not legal advice, and the signed logbook remains the legal record. Endorsement wording follows AC 61-65; hours are counted against 14 CFR §61.109. Nothing in the app or on this site is a substitute for your own judgment, your instructor's, or the regulation itself.

3. Using PAVE

  • Use the app and this site only for their intended purpose — flight training records, scheduling, and the related helpers.
  • Do not attempt to access another person's training record, another school's data, or any part of the service you have not been given access to.
  • Do not use the in-app AI helpers (Tracker, the teacher) to attempt to extract another person's identity, contact information or money data — both are built to refuse that, and attempting to defeat the safeguard is itself a violation of these Terms.
  • A training record's accuracy is between you and your instructor or school. PAVE provides the tool; it does not certify anyone's training.

4. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for what happens under your account. Tell your school or write to [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

5. The PAVE connector

PAVE offers a connector that lets a person's own outside AI assistant (for example, Claude) read part of their PAVE record, only after that person signs in and taps Allow. It is read-only — it can never sign, endorse, grade, move money, or write anything into a record on its own — and it can never see more than that person could already see in the app themselves. Full details are on the Privacy page. Using the connector does not change who owns the underlying record, and does not make PAVE responsible for what your own AI assistant's maker does with a conversation once it leaves PAVE. During the beta, the connector is limited to PAVE's own operator for testing.

6. SMS program terms

Program name: PAVE flight school alerts.

Who sends it: PAVE, on behalf of your flight school.

What you'll receive, if you opt in:

  • Safety alerts — for example, an emergency squawk on an aircraft, or a flight that has not returned when expected.
  • A notice that a booking has been cancelled or moved.
  • A one-time verification code, when you set up or confirm text alerts.

Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.

Text messages can arrive late or not at all, and texting is not an emergency service — never rely on a text alone for a time-critical safety decision. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Mobile numbers and SMS opt-in consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See the Privacy page for how your number is otherwise handled.

Texting is being built in phases and is not switched on for any school yet — turning it on for a school still requires that school's own setting and your own opt-in first. This page describes the program as designed, ahead of that switch, per pave-back-end's notify-sms.js and the consent wording PAVE's own sign-up screen composes.

7. Disclaimers

  • PAVE is provided during a beta, and beta software can have bugs. Report anything wrong to your instructor and to [email protected].
  • PAVE is a tracking aid, not legal or aviation advice, and does not replace your own review of the regulation or your instructor's judgment.
  • The signed logbook — not the app — remains the legal record of flight time.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms as the product changes, especially as PAVE moves from beta toward general availability. We will date this page when we do, and tell current users directly about any change that materially affects them.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, consistent with the beta agreement. Any dispute is heard in the courts of El Dorado County, California.
